- Polish Cloth: The polish cloth is made of fine brushed cotton for lacquer finishes. The cloth will become dirty and black after usage, which indicates it is working well. Do not wash the cloth. Do not use a silver polish cloth on a lacquered instrument.
- Vinyl Cleaning Snake: The snake has a vinyl body, with brushes on each end, used to clean the inner slides after removing the tuning slides. It should also be used to clean the inside of the tuning slides. Use with warm water and mild dish soap for the best results. Dry thoroughly before replacing slides.
- Mouthpiece Brush: The conical brush should be used to clean the mouthpiece. Remove the mouthpiece and brush inside it with warm water and mild dish soap. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
- Rotor Oil: Special care should be taken when oiling the rotors of your French horn. On the back side of the rotor casing, unscrew the large cover plate which will expose the rotor in a seated position. Do not remove the rotor. Merely apply one drop of rotor oil to the flat surface and replace the plate. Service one rotor at a time. Consult your teacher for further details.
- Tuning Slide Grease: Tuning slide grease should be applied to the straight tubes of the tuning slides on the instrument. A small finger tip amount is adequate, on clean slides. Then replace the curved slides.
